Latoriței Mountains – Voineasa – Prejbuței Ridge – Cireșu Peak – Chica Lupului Saddle – Voineasa

Route: easily accessible
Trail marking: blue triangle from Chica Lupului Saddle
Duration: 4–5 hours

Starting from ZAN Hotel, we walk to the concrete bridge at the entrance to the resort and follow the road east toward the exit from Voineasa. Near the last houses, on the right side, we can see a stream whose sediments are held back by a concrete dam. From here we begin climbing along the ridge on a wide path among beech and birch trees. During short breaks we can admire the wide opening of Lotrului Valley as well as the panorama of the resort town Voineasa. In the distance, the tall silhouette of Runculeț Peak can be seen.

After about half an hour of walking, we reach a rounded summit whose southern side opens into a flower-filled pasture. From here we head south, descending into a saddle before beginning the climb along a trail that leads through a beech forest. Soon we reach the ridge road Măceșului Valley – Ștefanu, west of Cireșu Peak (1,161 m), which is forested on its northern slope.

We continue along the road, passing a spring and then descending into a small saddle. The northern slope, deeply cut by Valea Largǎ Stream, is covered by a beautiful forest of beech and birch, with occasional fir trees. The route then continues with a gentle ascent, bypassing Chica Lupului Peak (1,122 m), after which it descends to Chica Lupului Saddle, where a wide view opens toward the north, west, and south.

From here, the route follows a path (marked in places with a blue triangle) that descends northward, passes a spring, and crosses Cărǎrii Stream, which we then follow on its right side. As we descend, the trail passes through a forest of large beech and hornbeam trees before reaching Cărǎrii Street, where it joins the main road. From there we return to ZAN Hotel.
